Please feel free to give me pointers

Nice pic, just lacks sharpness and a little noisey.

What camera are you using?
Type and spec of camera is pretty important with fish photography.
You need a good balance of ISO, shutter speed, and aperture.
These factors all effect keeping the exposure good whilst keeping it sharp.

I would reccomend a DSLR camera for fish photography.

I use a cannon DSLR, and never use flash.
here are a couple of my fish pics:

Thanks for the input. I have a PowerShot Canon and I used manual with no flash. I do have a Rebel but haven't used it as much. I will give it a try and see what I can do. It is not easy and my Clown Loaches are all over the front of the tank until I put a cameral in front of them and they decide to hide. Fortunately, the Discus don't mind posing.

I tend to use my dslr but I'd managed some ok pictures with my canon ixus, make sure you have macro mode on and rest your hands on something or use a tripod to keep the camera still.

If the fish are fast then you can up the iso but it tends to make the pictures more grainy :(
