hi im not long new to keeping fish. starting to realise its not just a case of fire in the fish and look at them

i bought a 120L tank of a friend with some fish already in it and have removed a few and added others

some that i have added are 2 male and 2 female guppies. the males are loosing some of the finage. ne of them is loosing quite a lot. i am wondering if this is fin rot or could some oof the other be nipping at them. what makes me think its not rot is i already have a young simese fighting fish wich is coming along well and groming fins nicly. and i have a pair of silver mollys the male have a large dorsil fin and wich is also ok

just hoping its not fin rot as i have only just bought 2 koi angel fish

thanks
jonny

it would be hard to tell from your description but if you post pictures im sure someone will probably be able to tell you what it is

if you can get a picture on here we would be able to help a bit more but by the sound of it - if the other fish's finnage is good it will probably be some fin nipping , some of my guppys have had the same thing , i have one dwarf goramai that HATES the colour red, and will nip JUST the red from other fish' tails, so i no longer buy red fish!!

i'm sure i've seen somewhere that you shouldn't have guppies and fighting fish in teh same tank because the male siamese fighting fish will mistake the flowing finnage of teh guppy as another male fighting fish and so attack it?

Ang is correct in saying that however i have kept guppys ang bettas in the same tank for 2 yrs now and yeah the betta may flair @ the guppys occasionally but no deaths so far- just depends on the aggression of the male really
