New To Females

ok i just got my new female betta earlier today an i already have a question. i put her into a well planted 10gal with an oto when i got home but she had 2 horizontal (---) stripes on her sides when i put her in an now shes darkend to the color of what the stripes were(kinda blue greenish...pretty color) but i dont know what the stripes ment an what it meens now that they are gone?.... ? ? ?? ? i really dont want to have to start doctoring her on her first day at a new home... + im going to get 3 more females next week so she isnt so loanly an i need to know if this is something normal or an sickness

sorry for such a dumb question(if it is one) but ive never had any females...just males

Horizontal stripes mean stress stripes. If they go away in the next couple of days (and they should) she's happy. Vertical stress stripes are when she sees another male and decides she's ready to mate. How big is the tank you're putting 4 females in? I wouldn't go any smaller than a well-planted/decorated ten gallon so they can each have their territories. If you don't have the space, your female probably is ok being alone in a tank, just like any male betta.
