You can have some Lake Tanganyika cichlids. It's not big enough for anything else. Do some research on the fish suggested and decide if they are right for you in what you're trying to keep or do. A very minimum tank is 36" in length for Malawi mbuna and not all species will work like that. The preferable size for Mbuna is 48" with the tank being at least 50 gallons +.
Lake Tang. cichlids are very nice to. One of my favorits that I haven't been able to keep yet (I have mts and don't have room for more tanks as I'm moving on to keep saltwater as well as the beautiful cichlids) is the Julidochromis species, with
Julidochromis Dickfeldi "Midnight" being my favorite.
Bruchardi's would work well in there.

Normally one would get six young individuals of these fish, and remove the balance of the fish once they have a pair. If you wanted three pairs (groups) of fish.
If you wanted three pairs (groups) of fish:
• 'Lamprologus' (Shellies) brevis, multifasciatus, meleagris, ornatipinnis, ocellatus, speciosus, similis, Neolamprologus signatus or Altolamprologus sp. "Compressiceps Shell"
• Neolamprologus caudopunctatus (non-Shellies)
• Julidiochromis ornatus or transcriptus
• Telmatochromis bifrenatus, brichardi or vittatus
