Well I am doing my first Co2 Injection tank. I got myself a 5lb canister of co2, Regulator, brass check valves, drop checker and a nice glass Co2 diffuser. Currently have it running between 2-3ppm 24/7 without to much worry about PH flux since the tank is fishless. Tank Specs are:
Size: 20 Gallon Long
Substrate: ADA Amazon Sand
Lighting: T5 24W X2 (28 Watt Total)
Filtration: 2X ZooMed 501 Turtle Canister Filters (70GPH per) and a Fluval 2+
Temp: Around 78-80F
Co2: Around 2-3ppm 24/7
Question 1: I placed the drop checker in the tank after placking proper 4dKH Solution and blue solution inside. 5+ Hours later the solution is still blue at 2-3ppm of co2. Water agitation is mild and PH seems to be around 6.3. Normal water PH is closer to 8 so the 6.3 is broguth with the Ada sand and Co2. Any ideas as to why?
Question 2: I have read MANY things about keeping C02 on 24/7 that some people say that doing so prevents the warm up time needed to get Co2 levels back to normal at lights on and that the swing is greater with that then if kept at moderate levels at night with water agitation most Co2 will evaporate. Tank is fishless so not to worried either way right now.
Question 3: With Co2 injection, what type of ferts do I need to add? All I have right now is Florish Excell which I stopped dosing since I got the Co2 running.
Question 4: What type of plant growth am I looking to see? I have Anubis, Java Ferns and Micro Swords in the tank right now and since injecting Co2 I have seen slight growth rate but nothing amazing.
Let me know if you can answer any of these, thank you.
