New To Angelfish And I Gotta Question

I have 3 angelfish which were giving to me on Sat. He previous owner said that there were a mating pair ( a koi and a Silver Veiltail) and then the odd man out (which is also a koi) now he told me that the mating pair only produced when the odd man out was removed from the tank...........all sounds perfectly normal


So yesterday I noticed the 2 koi (which I belive to both be male) completely motionless stareing at each other, almost like some sort of "whose the badder fish" thing. then they both took turns swimming around the tank as fast as they could and would always come back to "face off" against the other. For a visual just imange the stare down at the beinging of a boxing match, thats what they looked like


So does anyone know about angelfish traits, are they trying to win the heart of the female?

my best go on the bigger fish!!! go go go fight fight fight lol sorry got carried away sounds like there could be a problem i know my friends angels started fighting when he first started as they were ina tank to small for them cos they were terrotoral
tho looking at ur tank soize and whats in it i would not say thats the problem...

These fish have been in this same tank for awhile. But I have changed the enviorment quite a bit (opened it up a lot and cleaned everything really well) the former owner said that they wouldn't mate with all 3 in the tank but never meationed the "stare downs"

cant say i would know really you seem to have big tank maby they just need to settle in... someone else shuld be abe to help you better then me tho as i have not yet had angel fish tho i plan on getting a couple for my tank (47 gal) not my 18gall lol that would be a real figh in ther
