well, after finding out i cannot obtain a 4 foot tank, which i was going to turn into a new world tank, because of my flat regulations. i have been seriously thinking about african cichlids, however, there are a few questions i have on my mind.

would a 30 x 12 x 15 inch tank be big enough?
there are a few fish i cannot get rid of:
an L134 and a bristle nose pleco (because it's kept my algae down for so long) - i heard plecos can be compatible with africans (?) but i don't want them getting killed now do i!

as for the stocking, i have been looking at labidochromis caeruleus and pseudotropheus socolofi (or another peaceful but deeper blue fish if possible?) also, if i can get my hands on one, would the tanganyikan cichlid, altolamprologus calvus be compatible?

thanks

What are the dimensions of the tank in question? The general consensus with mbuna (rock-dwelling African Cichlids of Lake Malawi) is a minimum of a 4-ft tank.

How about keeping N. Brichardi? You could have a pair in a tank that size.
