new tank

hi there,
i'm just going to purchase a new tank,48x12x18,can someone reccomend
the best equipment for me to get to make it a tropical aquarium,filter,pump
heater,etc..i live in central scotland,so if anyone knows of places local that
would be great.

ive ad all types of filters internal and external
my personal fav is the ehiem external filters
they r really well made and easy to keep clean
r u goin graval or sand ?

Ordering online would be your cheapest option. I would reccomend the eheim external canisters, either the new ecco's or classic. Heaters are pretty much the same, so just don't go for the very cheapest, 200 or 250Watt for that size tank. You don't need an airpump if you have a good filter that causes surface agitation. The light are a little more complicated. If you want a heavily planted tank then your lights could end up being your biggest expense, but if you are going to have just a few easy low light plants such as Java fern or anubias then a single 42" tube should suffice.

For ehiems you are looking at £60 - £70, a cheaper option would be the fluval 304 external which usually run £10-£15 cheaper.


http/www.aquatic-discounts.co.uk/ have the ehiem, didn't see fluvals, but only had a quick look.
