i have just been given a juwel vision 260 bow front tank and was wondering what the best fish would be for a beginner. i have got a fluvel 304 canister filter for filtration and the standard juwel one that came with the tank.
i have been to the lfs today and saw some nice neon tetras i thought they will look nice if i got quite a few. but i would also like some big fish can you recommend any for me.

no not yet i have only just brought the pea gravel today.
the cycle is for 4 weeks isnt it?

approximatly 4-6 weeks, have you researched cycling and fishless cycling and stuff? how about some angel fish to fill out the front ( not until its cycled of course)

im just about to search for some content to read on it . do you know any good links for me ? many thanks

thankyou for all of your help i now have read and have a greater understanding of cycles amonia ph and all that stuff.
zebra danios you say i will look into getting some how many would you recommend to cycle a 60 g uk size tank .
and will they survive the amonia peak thing.

They'll survive the peak but it's much better to do a fishless cycle. Not only does it mean you are not unecessarily harming helpless fish, it also means you can choose exactly what you want while the tank cycles and add the fish afterwards without any fear of them being harmed by lethal spikes. Furthermore, fishless cycles are always faster than those done with fish. If you do go with danios, about 5 will be enough - don't over-do it as you'll regret it later. Remember, with a fishless cycle you won't need to worry about the fish - no water changes, no feeding, no gravel-vacuums and plenty of time to aquascape and make the important descisions.

Links on fishless cycling and cycling in general can be found in my sig. - I think some are pinned topics from this forum. :)

Thank you I was abit worried as I wouldnt like to kill any fish unnecessarily. I think a fishless cycle will do me. :D
