good evening All , just a quick question ,,,, ive just purchased a new 200ltr tank and wanting to move my fish from my 75 ltr tank to the new tank . Question is how long would the 75ltr tank run (to be safe ) unfilterd ????? reason for the question is i have to move the 75 ltr tank and strengthen the cupboard to hold the 200ltr and will need to use the old filter from 75ltr tank in 200ltr tank
Thanks

If you transfer the filter over when the 200 is setup you can transfer all the fish in one go, it is the filter that is 'cycled' not the tank. If you move the fish in stages you run the risk of the bacterial colony in the filter dying off as there won't be the same amount of waste to feed them, meaning you will have to add the rest very gradually to avoid a mini-cycle.

If you can, leave the fish in the 75 with the filter and get the 200 all ready and up to temperature then move everything over.

thankyou very much , i will do that the weekend when i have more time
