hi, i'm wondering if anyone can offer advice. I currently have two tanks, and have just purchased a 3rd, the new tank is just under 600 litres. problem being it is not on a stand and we need to build a stand. Looking to see if anyone has any ideas on the strengh this will need to be, i am looking at kitchen units and reinforcing with 3 x 2 batons. will this be strong enough?
any ideas welcome.

thank you

Well one litre of water weighs one kg,. With the water, tank and all decorations, you must be looking at between 800 and 900kg. I would be looking at a welded steel frame with a wooden outer for aesthetics.

Thank you , i never throught of this option, i'm away to look into this. greatly appreciated.

+1 i'd use iron then more iron and wrap it in wood as suggested above. wood on its own wouldn't hold it imo.

You could easily make a wood stand that would cope with the weight, after all it is basically a wood frame strengthened by wood that copes with the entire wait of the roof on your house. There is a thred here somewhere with plans for a stand for a 800 litre tank if i remember rightly, have a look in the diy section.
As suggested though a steel frame wrapped in wood would be a more slender design.
I had a carpenter build a wood stand for my 8ft 1133 litre and it holds the 1.6 ton weight fine.

Try asking in the Hardware and DIY section of this forum, you're much more likely to get a technical answer to this.

If it were me, I'd be inclined to see if I could find one of the official stands for whatever tank it is you have, bearing in mind that it's going to be holding weight which is the best part of a literal ton. It's up to you though. If you have faith in your abilities then go for it, but the consequences are pretty bad if it goes wrong once the tank is set up on it.
