Hiya,

Just set a new tank. About 80 litres in size. Filter and heater, don't ask me what type, wouldn't have a clue. Got three sizeable live plants and two fake ones for cover.

In there at the moment are:
  • 1 x Rainbow Shark
    6 x Red Eye Tetras

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas about what else would go well with these fish?
I've been considering a Butterfly Fish as well, would that be a bad idea?

Cheers

True butterflies would be pulled apart by the red eyes if introduced as juveniles, or could eat the red eyes if introduced as adults  They are nice fish, but their long finnage attracts fin nippers, and red eye tetras are quite nippy fish. Also, butterflies are smallish predators, 4" adult length, that will eat anything smaller than about 2" if it's small bodies, so that would make the tetras at risk form an adult butterfly fish if they are juveniles

All the best

Any suggestions for other fish that would go well in the tank?

It's hard to recommend anything without knowing what you like

As a guide, Tetras, Live bearers (excluding Guppies, due to their large finnage), Corrydorus Catfish and most Barbs should be OK, along with the smaller species of plecs, such as Bristlenoses, Rubberlips, L66, L15, L52 e.t.c, e.t.c. Things like Common and Gibeseppse plecos are out though, as they get too big
