Hi

Wanted to share my new 105l tank, set it up a few days ago, (thank you for your help in advising me) got to temperature, have moved old filter and fish in today, 2 danios, 4 neons, sucking loach and kuhli loach (nightmare to catch both the loaches!). Going out to buy something for the back of the tank tomorrow, hiding places for the kuhli, I thought that it would go under the rocks (moved from old tank) like it use to in the old tank but it isn't, not sure if this is because I had smooth pea gravel before and now have sand. It has settled behind the bogwood at the moment.

I have my old heater in as well at the moment, as I bought a new bigger one, but I am not 100% sure of it.

I did soak the bogwood loads, but the tannin has dyed the water, so have ordered some of those carbon pads, that I saw someone else recommend in another post.

Thinking of backgrounds to stick on the back, but couldn't find any I liked in the shops, but will sort all my wires out when I take out the old filter in about 6 weeks.

I bought 3 of the plants from a lfs is the variagated one at the back okay?? I read in someone else's post that their plant wasn't a proper aquarium one.

So was not going to feed tonight and check my stats tomorrow. I was looking for some advice in terms of maintenance now whilst I have my old filter in on the side of the tank and my new filter (in the lid) builds up.

Many thanks

Hope my picture works out used the fantastic instructions using ms paint.

looks great hun :good: i really like the bogwood a really nice center piece you got there
for maintenance just do the normal

test you water tomorrow and check the results
if all is running ok then leave it another few days check again if ok again then do your normal water change - a week from setting up fish tank

then tests 2-3 times a week as normal and do the 30% water changes and gravel vacs 0- gravel vac with sand hold vac about an inch above the sand to suck up anything thats on there

we discussed when to add the other fishies in another post didnt we hun?

My loasches hide behind something on the sand or just under the sand - they dig and bury lol

they are most probably just getting used to being in the new tank you dont need to add any caves if you dont want to , when you add more plants 0- if , they will also hide in these

Take care and once again it looks really good hun

Like the sand, like the bogwood. Nice to see people using two heaters. Much safer.! :good:

Hi Sarah

Thank you - That was what I was going to do maintenance wise, so great to have confirmation.

Yes, not getting any fishes for a few weeks, going to let the new filter settle in, then going to get some more danios to join the 2 I have now, they seem to be loving it having more room to swim round in.

My husband says I should sell my 35 litre tank, but I have secret plans for it, I thought after the 6 weeks of the filter being in my new tank I could put it back in my old tank, and have it in my studio as a one breed tank eg guppies!! would be great to watch them whilst I paint.

Thank you Paul, I need to have a move round with my positioning of them, but thought I would let the fish settle in first.

That piece of bogwood looks brilliant, I'm dead jealous :)

What have you got underneath the sand is it the black substrate you get for plants?

 I went to my local world of water and my 2 children and I took out all their bogwood had it laid all over the floor and really liked that bit, thought it looked like a bridge. I bought too much though, so drying the other big bit out and was going to try and take it back to get a credit!

It is just sand at the bottom I think about 2.5 - 3 inches, my bad photo makes it look black. I was umming and ahhing about putting a plant substrate under the sand, but I had pea gravel before, (I am still quite new to fish keeping) and was unsure how I would get on with the sand, if I would get in a right mess having the 2 different kinds of layers.

Thank you for your nice comments.
