I bought my betta a new tank today. It is kinda hexgonal at the front so i can't calculate the exact litres, but I work it out to be about 45 litres. I'm guessing this means I could put in a divider and get another betta? I hope soooo :)
The back of the tank is mirrored, making it look like the tank is actually totally hexagonal. I am gonna put in the large plant I already have, and I am getting some water lettuce. I will put in some coconut caves. My froggies will move in too as i don't have space to keep the old plastic tank too, so I will be stacking up some small pebbles in a corner for them to rest on as the tank is quite high.
So, help please! I know I can get a divider, but where can I get one online in the UK? And I use aquarium silicone to stick it on, yeah? Plus I can use the silicon to hold the pebbles together....
Also, I can keep another betta in there can't I? Is 45 litres enough? The tank is 18 inches in length so room enough for swimming I guess. One side will have the 2 african dwarf frogs in, and I was considering an otto or something for the other side, which I would introduce at the same time as my new betta - wanna keep the frogs with Baby as he is used to them.
Anyone see any problems, or have any ideas for me?

Hi
Dividers from Modaz on this forum :good:
It might be worth your while trying to cover that mirrored surface. Depending on what bettas you get it might stress them out and/or if you get say a HM, could blow their fins with excessive flaring.

Daz has got an online store at www.dpfishways.co.uk :good:

Yeah I did wonder about the mirror, but how to cover it when it is part of the tank? I thought some heavy planting at the back might help somewhat.... so the tank is big enough for 2 bettas then? woooo!

yes it is lol, more than enough

thats about 4gallons each

get some nice fluffy plants to go at the back :D

Or.......aquarium sealant and some coloured plastic (clean of course). Just make sure you seal it all the way around.

Oh I love the idea of a moss wall, I think I will try to get the stuff together to make that! Anywhere good online to buy moss from? I guess I will need to make 2 moss walls, one for each side of the divider. I bet it will look great when it is done and starts growing! I'm just wondering if I could stick one half of the mesh onto the tank with sealant rather tah using suction cups.....

Here is a pic I took today of Baby and part of his reflection :p

He is so gorgeous, i just can't wait to get more bettas!

another one bites the dust da da da....lol well i should say another one gets bitten by the bug!

A moss wall would look great in there, it takes a time to grow but well worth it. could even do the same with the divider in the middle :p

Your fooshie is looking fab! (what can i say i'm a sucker for MG's)

Ah now there is an idea.... moss wall divider! But would I have to buy a divider then amke the moss wall around it do you think? Cos it needs to stay stiff......I CAN'T WAIT TO GET NEW BETTAS!!!
I have another plan... when my bby kribs are all grown and rehomed i will have a 50 litre tank that is 2ft in length. Could I divide it into 3 for bettas?

yay! more bettas for me!
I just measured up my new tank properly. Turns out my husbands psychic ability to jusge measurents is on the wane :p It would be 35 litres without the cut off corners at the front, so i reckon about 30 litres.... so about 6 1/2 gallons.... is this still OK for 2 bettas, plus the 2 froggies that will stay living with Baby? I was thinking of a snail friend for the new betta if he will accept it.... getting ahead of myself here as I haven't even divided the tank yet! :p

if urs is 35litres its 7gallons which is fine to split in half, 3.5gallons each

altho i dont think u shud have the frogs one side as its not alot of room for them

:)

Hmmm. Maybe I will move the froggies to one of my 2ft tanks. I'm gonna make one a community when the krib babies are gone... daren't put them in now cos Mum will kill them. I guess I could pop them into my other 2ft which just houses tetras right now... they could live there until the babies are done.
