Well, I had some birthday money, and decided to upgrade my little CT boy from his one gallon hex tank. He's now in a 14 gallon filtered, heated, cycled tank. And he has tankmates! So, here are some pictures! :)

Yeah, that's some sad-looking java fern in the back. I figured it wouldn't hurt to have a few bad leaves; they'll get better over time, and I don't mind.

And his currently unnamed Bulldog Pleco:

The pleco looks nice as well, good thing that type only gets around 4 inches.

Betta looks excellent in there. You should probably look for some tankmates ;) .

He looks super and the tank is great....such crystal clear water :good: :good:

a background would look good and hide those wires as well :good: great looking tank and a gorgeous betta.

Looks good, bet hes happier now :)

ps. aint heaters suppose to be on a anlge? most on the box says not to put in a verticle position.

Thanks, everyone :) I removed most of the rocks from the bottom of the tank this morning, as the apple snail was having to go over each rock individually, down into the crevice between the rocks, and then up again onto the next one. And food was getting stuck between them, so. I'll get a picture of that later, and update it.

The tank came in a kit, and the heater is one that hangs on the back of the tank, like a HOB filter. Sort of. I don't like it much, and need to get a new one. But for now it's doing what it's supposed to, so I'm not going to worry about it that much, and just keep an eye on it.

Heaters are supposed to be at angle because of water circulation. If your heater is far away from your filter, your deffinately going to want it at an angle so that way the heat is evenly distributed throughout the tank. But since the heater is so close to the filter, I don't see why it would be needed at an angle. That's what I've heard at least.

Mine is such an awkward shape that it has to be vertical (or only a few degrees out) or otherwise it gets the non-submergeable parts wet. Possibly because I have the tank it's in filtered something like 8x/hour (it's overstocked as hell) so the surface gets pretty choppy. I managed to get it next to the filter intake though.

Nice tank btw... are you going to put anything else in it?

Thanks! I think I might put some African Dwarf frogs in, but not for a month or two (or five?). I haven't really decided yet, or thought about it much. I know I'd like to put something else in, I'm just not sure what. I probably won't start thinking about it for another month, because once I start researching fish that'll work, I want them right then, and I don't want to put anything else in yet XD

Very nice clear pics... nice looking betta too

Thank you :)

That tank is just beautiful i would throw in some rasboras or cardinals.
