 Hello! I am new to this so ..... please bear with me. I am the proud "mom" of a male betta, His name is Fred. When I brought him home I had a very small "tank" for him to call home. I thought he might like something bigger, so I bought a bigger "tank", I went from a 1 pint tank to a gallon tank. Anyway this tank has an air pump and under gravel filter. Now Fred is not eating. He is usually a pig, but now he doesn't seem intrested. I don't know if the air bubbles bother him or he is still getting use to his new home. HELP!!!! :shout:

Maybe the airpump is causing too much flow, bettas don't like their water flowing too much, people usually keep their bettas with no filtration at all.
Even in the wild bettas live in non flowing water such as ponds, little pools.

Or maybe its something to do with the food your feeding?, try different foods, they love a variety.

 Thank-you!!!! As soon as I turned off the air pump Fred came right up to the surface looking to eat. He likes the size of the new tank, but he is not so keen on having the water all stirred up. I just started feeding him (twice a week) blood worms instead of his normal food. Fred LOVES them. Anyway thanks again for the tip. :good:

how long ago did you move him? it can take a while for them to settle into new homes. at the moment that extra space is probably a little scary and strange but he will get used to it pretty quickly,
if the filter is flowing too strongly there are ways to make a "filter killer" to reduce the flow a little, but some bettas seem to quite like flow once used to it.

most bettas has bubbles, my betta's dont seam to mind a 170l/h filter in thier 3.6 gall tank, the flow isn't too great and doesn't bother then too much becuase they have lots of hiding places
