ok so i was thinking this i have a new tank comein wich is twice as big as my last on and i was planeing to use the old water and top up with new in the new
in the tank so thhat would make it 50% old and 50% new
1 do you think this will be ok to put the fish right in
2 what do i do about the filters
3 do i need to treat the water
i dont want to have to sent up the new tank and wait weeks be for i can put fish in it all the fish are hardy and
are doing fine any help any one can give me i will be thankfull for

Yes you do need to treat the new water with water conditioner.
Put your old filter sponges into the new filter if they fit.
If not wet the new sponges and squeeze as much beneifical bacteria as you can onto the new sponges.
Match temp and ph.
Then it should be ok to add the fish that day.
You will need to test your water stats daily to see if the tank gone into a mini cycle.

Using the old tank water doesn't help with any cycling issues but will keep the fish in their normal water so as you said, it is about the same as a 50% water change. As Wilder, mentioned, if possible, move the media from the old filter into the new one or you can run both the old and new filters together on the new tank for several weeks until the new filter can build up some bacteria.
