New Tank

I have now set up my new tank its a Juwel vision 180 contaning quite alot of plant some slate and other rock and a large peice of bogwood.

The tank is nearly ready to add fish to and i dont know what to put in it though i would like a communty tank.

Any ideas would be welcome.

i'd take it as a 180gallon tank? you could get a fire eel. i'd recommend that. lovely specimens they are, and they would make fine tankmates with anything bigger than their mouths

No only 180liters so roughly 47 gallons i think.

180 gallons would be nice though

ahh blew it. no more fire eels for you . there's still the beautiful peacock eel and zigzag eel which would fit nicely into a 47g.

Tiger Barbs

Would look stunning in planted tank. would so love to see a pic of your new tank. Let me know when you have a pic up.

Also Barbs are hardie fish and are so active too.

Yeah i do like tiger barbs now especially after seeing that picture you posted of them eating out of your hand.

How long have you had yours and what other sort of fish can they be with ?

Only had mine for a few days, They were eating and nibbling my hand after i had them for a few hours. I got mine in with Black neon Tetra, common neon tetra. 1 swordtail 3 platys. the more tiger barbs you keep the less likely they are to nip other fish. I plan to change my 4 foot tank to a tiger barb tank also. they will be in with Buenos aire tetra. a redtail shark and clown loachs. ( will be getting a bigger tank soon tho). what other fish did you have in mind to go with tigers?

How long has the tank been running? If it's only a few days...you're probably in the beginnings of the cycle now.

I really wanted a couple of dwarf gouramis but i dont think that they would be ok with tiger barbs. have you ever had any probs with keeping small tetras with them ?

By the way how big is your tank in liters ?
And how many tiger barbs do you have in it all together ?

Dwarf gourmami's i think would be terrorised. My tank is 160 litres. worked it out as 25 gallon. I got 10 Tigers in there. they will grow up to 7cm each tho.

Yeah thats what i thought about the gouramis. Ill have to think about it i do like the look of the tigers though.

Ill get back when i buy some fish and make my mind up

Just as a by the way i think 160liters is 42 gallons, maybe you have a little more stocking space then you first thought always good eh

i keep fire eels now. my favourite fish hands down . very responsive and quite gentle in fact to tankmates. mine feeds right from my hand and swims around my fingers.
