New Tank

looking goooood :good: what cichlids you going for? i was going to mix pseudotropheus socolofi and labidochromis cearuleus together for my cichlid tank... but that never happened lol colours that compliment each other :shifty:

no idea. I was looking at electric yellows & blues and possbily Bumble Bees but someone told me the bumbles will get too big for a 55g but from what i've seen they dont get any bigger than the blues and yellows.

i found a nice suggestion chart for 55's here:
cookie cutter 55g ciclid tanks

and am leaning towards
Smaller, Less Aggressive Mbuna Aquarium

Select any 3 species (max 12 fishes):
• Metriaclima estherae
• Pseudotropheus saulosi
• Pseudotropheus sp. "Acei"
• Labidochromis sp. "Hongi"
• Labidochromis caeruleus
• Labidochromis sp. "Perlmutt"
• Labidochromis chisimulae
• Iodotropheus sprengerae
• Cynotilapia afra
Do not mix any Labidochromis species.

Bumblebees pseudotropheus crabro at 8" are one of the larger mbuna, I have a female that isn't full grown yet, she's currently around 6" and still growing. Electric yellows labidochromis caeruleus generally max out at 5", and electric blue is the common name for about 6 different species.

The stocking suggestion you found is an excellent source. :good:

A little constructive criticism, if you decide to go with mbuna, you are going to need a LOT more rocks.

Nice looking tank by the way.

thanks, i came to the more rock/restructuring conclusion last night.
any suggestions for Cichlids for the tank as is?
the other issue i'm having now is low PH. I broke my only test vial recently so was using some test strips, but got a reading of 6.0 when i tested last night.
The more i look at it, the more i'm tempted to just add 10 schools of tetras and over filter.
