Hello, i am just about to fill my first fish tank with water, can any one plz tell me would it be ok to put the water into the tank via a hose pipe, and then adding the water conditioner or should you do it in a bucket and then add it to the tank, also i am thinking of putting in live plants, when should these be added and are they hard to keep, any advice would be most welcome

Hi Mr Sleepy.
You can fill your tank with water from a hose and add the water conditioner as it is filling, that way it should distribute around your whole tank.
You may find your tank goes cloudy for a while but it is nothing to worry about.
I added plants to mine after about 3-4 days and they were fine. As long as you've got decent lighting in your tank then your plants should be ok. :)

look for plants that are easy to keep if you are new to this, add some fertilizer that you get from your Local Fish Shop to your gravel or sand what ever you got, this will help to develope good root systems as an extra while your waiting for your tank to mature enough before you put fish in- add some liquid plant food all this should boost your plants a create a lovely looking natural environment for your new arrivals. as said above keep a good supply of lighting to encourage growth.

Look at the "stickies" for "fishless cycle" or do a search... I would hold off on the plants for a while, until the tank has cycled.

Newcomers are always welcome, but please have a read first... you will be more welcome ! LOL

hello again, how long should it take for the water to be clear, mine sis still quite cloudy

Cloudiness can take days or weeks to go. Usually depends on filter and tank shape. Please fishless cycle before adding your fish. Click the link in my sig. and follow the add & wait method.
