Fish Herder
Hi, I am having my new tank this week. I have got it for a good price plus a £30 fish voucher. There is no time limit on the voucher as obviously I won't be buying lots of fish in one go. I would appreciate some help in choosing some new fish. My existing fish are -1 Common Pleco, about 10" (reason for bigger tank!), 10 Dalmation Mollies (not all fully grown) and a Golden Apple Snail.
I have an idea on which fish I do not want - any Loaches because of the Golden Apple Snail. I would like something colourful (obviously not dyed!) that would not grow too big e.g. ultimate size not more than 4". I do not want any big fish because the Pleco is going to grow and grow! I prefer a tank to be under-stocked anyway.
I also don't want anything spiteful as it is a peaceful community tank.
The new tank is a Juwel Rio 300 and I will be seeding it from my existing tank (read how to on here). The ph of the water is 7.5 although it dropped to 6.5 after I had used holiday feeding blocks, which I will never do again.
I have always had good water quality but it went haywire after the feeding blocks and took a while to settle down.
I would like fish that are quite hardy and not fussy eaters as I go away for 2 weeks in the summer and I use an automatic feeder with pellets. My existing fish are happy to eat that. Plus there will be real plants.
Thanks in advance.
