I got a bigger tank the other day and now i can put at least 2 more goldfish in! :D
Well I use to have a 5 gallon and now I have a ten gallon.
Theres plenty of room and all but I need 2 more goldfish and some more decratives.
Need to know what two goldfish you would pick? What type of plants you would choose and how much it'd all cost?
Any help would be appreciated. :D lol :hyper:

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but are you aware that to keep goldfish healthy and strong, the first needs about 20gallons and each additional fish requires 10 gallons? Some people will here will go as high as 30 for the initial fish, then 10g for each additional. Goldfish also need a lot of good filtration, plenty of water surface agitation, and IMHO weekly water changes at the minimum. I have kept goldfish, I kept two in a 45g tank, and never thought to put more in that tank. I was even going to upgrade the tank to a 120 gallon, a lot for two goldfish? No, in my opinion, not at all.

If I were you, I wouldn't add any additional fish and be ready to upgrade to a larger tank in the near future. See, although a goldfish's body will grow to its surrounding, its internal organs do not. This can cause severe problems for the fish in the future. Goldfish can also become stunted in small aquariums, which causes internal problems and a shortened lifespan.

I kept my two goldfish for five years in said tank. They were doing very well, water changes were done weekly, the filter was kept clean (weekly rinsed in tank water) and was powerful. I looked forward to having them a long time, and I still lost them when the power went out during a Hurricane.

I know you are excited and want to keep more fish, and who can blame you? New tanks are awesome and I'm glad you have one. That being said, however, take into account that you will have to upgrade in the near future inorder to prevent the stunting of your fish, and to ensure their continued good health and happiness.

I'm sure most people in this forum would agree with me and my advice, but people should feel free to add any additional information. Goldfish are truely beautiful animals and I wish I could keep them again, but it is not feasible for me at this time. They thrive when kept in the right conditions and grow to become more than just fish. My General Tsaio was like a dog or cat for me, and his loss as well as the loss of his companion Ping is still felt by myself and my family. A natural disaster took the General and Ping away from my family, I really don't want you losing a fish to something that can be prevented. This is not meant to offend you, this is only meant to inform you. Taking the time to post here at TFF already gives me an indication that you care for the welfare of your animals. In addition, there is a wealth of knowledge at TFF in the form of pinned articles. This will help you as well.

By the way, welcome to TFF, I hope you learn a great deal.

Thanx B)
I didnt know about that?? :/
I wont get anymore fish.
I'll just get some fake seaweed plants. :D
Oh and sorry to hear about ur fishes.
What hurricane did u lose them in? :/

Well, my family lives in Miami, FL. They took care of the tank very well while I'm away for school. Well, Katrina struck Miami as a Category 1, but my family lost power for 4 days. They were doing daily water changes, but the heat was very oppressive and the fish died as a result of the lack of oxygen. My family had a hard time dealing with it. I won't keep goldfish in S. FL again. We've been hit by 3 major hurricanes in less than two months, Wilma being hopefully the last. I'll be keeping very few other species besides anabantoids when I return home. Anabantoids, in my opinion, would seem better suited to that type of lifestyle.

Arent u scared of even living in Florida because of all of the hurricanes?
