Mikey

3 xray tetras and 5 neon tetras, sadly i have lost 1 xray tetra (cant find him anywhere, he has been missing about 2 months now :( ) and one of my neons traped its self behind the filter and glass :( rip fishes :)

Im sure you will soon find some tall plants as there are a number of aquatic stores in Bristol.

looks good.

Your xrays dont seem to be doing well. They like to be in groups of 5-6+

Your heater is huge! My 11 gallon tank has one half the size.

I Reccomend Cabomba as a tall plant in the center.

Cool pics!

in my own experience, cabomba has been a sensitive plant that falls apart quite easily... not really the toughest out there. perhaps some jungle valissneria or a sword?

Whay not try some real plants? I can't (or couldn't I should say) grow plants to save my life... Then I discovered Hygrophila polysperma which is a lovely, fast-growing plant that grows tall very quickly (I mean to the point where I can see the difference day to day - it grows overnight!) and which seems very hardy and low-maintainance. I don't have any extra lighting in my tanks and no CO2 or fertilizers or special substrates etc and this plant grows anyway. Similarly, Hygrophyla corymbosa is another I reccomend. I particularly like the 'siamensis' variant which seems just as tolerant of varied conditions and equaly fast-growing. The particular variant, 'siamensis' grows wonderfuly in one of my tanks to above water and has produced beautiful little blue flowers on several occasions. There are plenty of other variants for both polysperma and corymbosa to choose from. Live plants have lots of benefits besides being ideal hiding places for fish - eg: they remove nitrates and excessive nutrients from the water and give out O2.

BTW, I like the 'air feature' :D

Cabomba has worked fine for me, and i dont do anything special.

Hygrophilia P. Is great! Try it out.
