right going to the local tomorrow with a high chance of coming back with a new fluval duo deep 800 (33g)
and was wondering what could i put in it

there will be : -

>3x ATB (AlbinoTiger Barbs, two of which i have in my small 4.5)
>3x TB (Tiger Barbs)
>4x Bronze Cory (one of which i have in my 4.5)

if ive worked it out right those uses up 27" worth of my 35" ish

things i would like to get if they are suitible (8") : -

afew Otocinclus (oto's) at an " each
some cleaner shrimp at .5-1" each (what sort, i quite like these and will have some shrimp if poss)

what else is suitable?
pigmy puffer?upsidedown catfish?

it will have sand definatly(sp) and be heavy planted if poss.

any info would be great, ta

Do shrimp need to be counted on the inch per gallon rule too.

Personally, I dont have much faith in the inch per gallon rule.... and apparently it is only supposed to apply to slender fish under 3 inches or something, so why not go for an ancistrus instead of otos?

The barbs makes choices for fish a bit trickier as they are notorious fin nippers.... if not for them I would have suggested a male and 2 female pearl gouramis.

You could happily house a dwarf cichlid such as a cockatoo in there if you liked.

Or.... a red tailed black shark, or flying fox.

People will probably moan at me for saying the inch rule is junk, but as long as you are sensible with your stocking it is acceptable in my opinion to have fish that total a bit more than the gallon volume of your tank in inches.

im afraid so but i dont think that they do much damage, and you can get some tiny ones that are like half an inch,

well im ignoring that rule alittle to give me round numbers, whats an ancistrus? and otos because they are great fish

yes i know they impare the choice because of their fin nipping, but they should b fine in a group of 6

i looked at the flying fox but only the pic  and i had a RTB but it was murder in the dark, it terrorised my other fish and i think they need groups of 3+

thanks for you imput,chrismr
could some other people put any surgestions, espesically the shrips ta

edit: whats the chances for a plec of some sort? i love clown plecs but dont they grow huge?

An ancistrus is a bristlenose plec, a loricariid that stays quite small (c. 5 inches)- so probably would be an option, as long as you are reasonably diligent with water changes. Clown plecs also stay small.
