Hi everyone,

It's been a long time since I was active on this forum, but I'm sure it's still the best place to turn to for advice!
I've just upgraded to a Juwel Rio 240 and intend to set it up for Malawi Cichlids.

This will be my first Cichlid tank after keeping tropical communities for years.

I'm in the process of setting the tank up and I've been reading fish profiles.
Coral sand, plenty of rocks/caves and upgraded filtration will be provided. My water pH, hardness, etc is in the right range.

I want to get:
Yellow Labs (Labidochromis caeruleus)
Yellow Tail Acei (Pseudotropheus Acei Msuli).
Something else

From what I've read the first two should be quite suitable.

So my initial questions are:
1) Can anyone recommend something to go with the first two?
2) What numbers of each would be comfortable in a tank this size (240 litres, 63 US gal minus displacement from rocks, etc). I'm thinking between 3 and 4 of each (so 9 to 12 total stock)?

Thanks

"5 x Yellow Lab (Labidochromis caeruleus)
5 x Pseudotropheus Acei (Pseudotropheus acei)
5 x Rusty Cichild (Iodotropheus Sprengerae)
1 x Bristlenose Pleco (Ancistrus sp.)

Suggestion: If you want to keep more than 5 Yellow Lab, minimum recommend male to female ratio is 1:4 (M:F). You will be less likely to experience problem if you get even more females. <LI>Suggestion: If you want to keep more than 5 Pseudotropheus Acei, minimum recommend male to female ratio is 1:4 (M:F). These species in general, need to be overstocked to control aggression (over 100% stocking level). Make sure your filtration is sufficient and keep up with water changes.[size="-1"]"

Could be a starting point to get more feedback from keepers ;)

nice cut'n'paste from a certain 'advisor' site there.

Guilty as charged ;)

Hence the "Could be a starting point to get more feedback from keepers

" after the cut 'n' paste...

you could maybe add some type of haps in there such as : cyrtocara moori, nimbochromis livingstoni, venustus, polystigma or other nice mbuna are pseudotrophious demasoni or flavus.

Thanks for the replies so far.
I like the sound of the Rusty, just been reading up on them and they sound ideal.
