New Tank Setup

i'm new at tropical fish i set up a 21.6 L tank waited a wk before putin 2 platteys how long do i wait to put some more fish in the tank with them i'm on about gettin mollys or swordtails say 2 of each

a week really isn't long enough for you filter to have the correct type of bacteria in order to right the toxic levels in the ammonia IE poo!

you need to have a look in the tropical discussion section and look into cycling your tank before you buy any more fish or the likelihood is that they will die!

just leaving the filter in water does nothing for the filter because there is no ammonia in the tank to start the cycle

thanks i have looked at the link i brought a a 6 in one test kits everythink was ok when i matched them to the box i will do everythink the link said thanks again

i have read all about the cycling of the tank will act on everythink i have read thanks for that tho

some people find it easier to make a diary on the your new feshwater tank section where they put there results everyday then people can check them and make sure verything is coming along fine and also gives you somewhere to write it all without having tons of paper lying around
