I am thinking about getting a 5-7ft tank and my ideas for it are the following:

2 Elephant Nose
1 Albino Red Fin Shark
2 Common Pleco
2 Clown Loach
5 Albino Cory Cat

I was wondering what other suggestions people had.

Please post a picture of it as well.

Preferably some fish that will mix well with these and that are tropical and exotic looking.

Is the current mix OK?

Cheers

personally i think you have too many bottom dwellers, try to cut back on some of them, maybe think about getting some mid-top dwellers,i havent got anything in mind at the moment but look on the internet or arounf aquatic shops.

Elephants 1 or 6+
Shark is ok
Plecs Ok
Clownloach's 6+
and 6 Corys

Personally in that size tank i would go for cichlids

depends which ones also depends on what you like where abouts in the house it is etc..

so would you prefer..

Planted/Not planted
Community/Specie tank
Sand/Gravel Etc
Rocks/no Rocks

make these descisions as they will help you on deciding your fish or Build your tank around a type of fish...

once you have made the descions you can start thinking on your fish or vise versa...

planted
community
small stones
small rocks (nothing too big)

"Elephants 1 or 6+

I'll probably go with 1 elephant nose
shark
plecos
6 clown loach
6 cory

Will the clown loach and cories fight?

anybody else

what about a prehistoric dragon goby?

has any1 got any history with these fish

some angelfish?

albino
gold veil

or betta?

crowntail

electric yellow chiclid
Demasoni Cichlid

Right i would get a center bog wood with some 6" high rocks either side..
small stones
lots of plants at the back..

1 elephant beware EXTREAMLY hard to feed i had one it died after a week and bloodworm swam infront of him!! BGK is eayier and almost the same lol

clown loaches get to a poss size of 10"

so watch out i would just have clowns and no corys

like someone else said oyu have no top - middle fish

as you have 2 plecs bottom which get 24"
6 clowns 10" bottom
1 Shark Often bottom (not sure on size)
possibly corys 2"
and elephant nose is kind of a bottom dweller.. and they eat thr food off the bottom so you could have trouble

along the lines of your fish and design i would get this

DESIGN:

1 Large bogwood
about 4 6" rocks 2 either side maybe 3 either side
about 9 bags of small gravel
and a variety of plants when the man picks them up (ask him to hold it in the air if it stays upright like it does in the water its not aquatic and will die if it flops its aquatic)

PLANTS:

6 Clown loaches
1 Shark
Black Ghost Knife fish INSTEAD of elephant nose
1 Plec
6 Discus or 4 Angels

Not sure on filteration/heater/lighting on that size tank sorry

ENJOY!

crowntail

electric yellow chiclid
Demasoni Cichlid

Sorry just saw this post lol

Angels are good hardy and would be fine

any colour...

Bettas only one male would be fine

Electric yellows and Demasoni are "Malawis" can only be kept with malawis and plecs

also need a aqaurium with locks of rocks and no plants with sand substrate...

Malawis would be wonderufll in that size tank have one plec with about 20 malawi's which you can get lots of diff colours!

out of that i will probably go with

3 clown loach
4 cories
1 plec
1 elephant nose
1 bgk
1 shark
and 4 electric yellow chiclids
maybe 4 Demasoni Cichlids

If it were me? I'd cut the plecs out, keep the shark and knife fish. Then I'd look into some cichlids, African butterfly fish, gudgeons, and a bichir of some type....

Decor wise, a few large pieces of driftwood, different sized rocks, large swords and vals, java ferns and anubias on the wood and rocks. Substrate, something that's good for the plants, the color would depend on what the final stock would be, I'd want something that brings out the colors of my fish.

It is not advised to keep elephant noses with any other bottom feeding fish(such as plecs, corys, rainbow/RTB sharks).

If you really want an elephant nose, post down in the oddball section to get some good advice on keeping them.

noonnnooooo malawis are aggressive thats why can only be kept with its own specie...

the cichlids are wonderfull that you have picked out and you could have more of diff colours with a plec of some sort but nothing else them going with.. Sand and rock no plants..

OR go with cichlids that arent malawis

like discus angels etc that can have gravel plants and not many rocks ... which can be kept with almost anything and i can see you want loaches and corys so have 4-5 of each probably 4 would probs be fine then have bgk/elephant either shark and then a other type of fish...

out of everything you picked would eng up dead but the cichlids and plecs

you have to pick one or the other im affraid!
