just set up a new tank layout, ive used,
Bogwood - which is good to rest on and swim through, hide behind.
Half a lant pot - A cave liek effect even though i doubt shimmer will go in it.
Elodea planted - something to nibble on and it looks good.
Floating elodea - for the snail and to add a better effect

Let me know what you think.

Very pretty nice to see you making an effort for him :good:

I like elodia too but cabomba my dear is the holy grail to all betta keepers :shifty:

Also if that plat pot is plastic i don't know if it will be ok but i know ceramic ones are ok in a tank.

Very nice to see it comeing along and i'm sure shimmer will appreciate it

Thankyou, i'll try get some cambomba if i see any in my lfs.
What about amazon swords?
Hope shimmer soon starts exploring!
I think for an improvement for my tank, i need more live plants.

Excellent! Plants are deffinately the way to go

Amazon swords are nice and pretty low maintinance as far as i know.

Also try and get some root tabs to put into the substrate under the plants you can buy them at most LFS and they contain nutrients to help the plants grow. And make sure you leave yout light on for about 9hrs a day.

Out of interest forestpisces would you recommend root tabs over dosing the water? (As I really do not know and gotta get me some plant food!)

Tank is on its way and Shimmer must be loving it!

I might pick up some live plants on the weekend im thinking amazon swords and cambomba and ill pick up some plant food if you can get them or the root tabs.

I use root tabs but thats really a question for the plant experts lol i use the root tabs and so far i have managed to keep my cabomba and elodia going, some plants take thir nutriets prodominently from the water and some from the roots i will be investing nin some liquid ferts at some point but the root tabs are cheap and easy until then.

When looking for low light plants choose ones that are green with broader leaves, crypts is another good low-light plant i think.

Of course all of that information could be completely wrong as i am only just beggining in the world of planted tanks but i've done a little reading and that is my understanding of it lol.

I'll look it up on the internet to find a suitable low light plant i think i like the amazon swords!
thanks
