Hey guys, obiviously im new here at this forum. I just bought a new fish tank and about to do a Fishless Cycle. I just bought aquarium sand instead of gravel. My question is do i have to somehow clean the sand? Because i know that i have to clean and rainse the gravel but doing that for sand would be crazy :D

So what should i do?

Get yourself a nice big bucket. Fill it about half with sand then add water. Once you've mixed it around ,wait till the sand settles at the bottom of the bucket and tip out the water and repeat till your happy ;)

yeah i think this would be fine, make sure to post this on new to the hobby section

and :hi:

what i do actually is get the sand into a bucket, top with with water until the water totally covers the sand and more, and start stirring. the water will become cloudy. continue stirring for awhile and top of the water. 95% of the sand would sink down fast enough before the water empties them. this way, you get to clean the sand real fast. works for me  :D

:lol:Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like a mess job but i'll be sure to do it so the fishy will be happy

Its not too bad just do the bucket technique were you stir the sand in water then pour it away. Do this until the water runs more or less clear
