Going to be getting some kind of freshwater puffer for my new Juwel 180 Litre, the sponges from it have been in my older established Juwel tank for well over a month to colonize them with bacteria, and also Im putting the external filter from my established tank into my puffer tank because I have a new one. With all the benificial bacteria from the sponges and bacteria from my external would it be okay to add a Puffer right away, or still use tester fish for a while??

Don't use a tester fish. If you wouldn't put the fish you want in their why risk another fishs' life?

Use a test kit or pay for a water test at a LFS.

I would test first before adding any fish.
why risk the life of a fish that you probably dont really want anyway.

What do you mean by "Tester fish"? Do you meaning like...doing a cycle with fish?

Wont even be a proper cycle, there will be bacteria in the sponges which have been in my established tank for over a month and a whole external filter full of bacteria. I was thinking about getting an Oscar just to keep the bacteria alive untill I find a decent Puffer or two.

No, if you were going to, get a few WC or dannios.
Oscers can be hard to rehome, not to mention you'll spend $10+ and not get anything from it except bacteria.

Well I need something bigish like an small oscar so they have big crap since I have sand, it'll be easier to spot than some neon crap or something

if you're using established media, then you can add your puffers right away... i've cycled one tank and then just used media from the tank to cycle all my other tanks and my friends' tanks as well...
