Hey there,

I’m thinking of getting myself a bigger tank of around 250 litres and was wondering what other fish I could put with discus and Malawi if any or even if they two types can go together

A bit clueless.

Regards

Malawi are african cichlids and require hard water and are aggressive.
Discus are a peaceful South American fish that require soft water at temps of 82 degrees F and will be very expensive fish food for your Malawi cichlids.

I suggest you do a bit more research on keeping fish in general and then cichlid care and differences. If interested in cichlids there are South american cichlid forums on this board and an african cichlid forum as well. Good luck!

The first thing to do is look on your water company's website for the hardness of your tap water. You need a number and the unit of measurement rather than some vague words. The unit is important as UK water companies do use some odd units so you may need to convert the number into one of the units used in fish keeping - tell us exactly what they give.

It is much easier to keep fish suited to your tap water rather than try to alter the water to suit a particular fish.

go to a few pet shops and make a list of fish and plants you like. post it here and we can make suggestions.
