I find the hardest thing with fishkeeping is what to put in the tank. I've got a nice community tank set up with Angels among other things, so I'm looking for something a bit different. I could go Brackish/Salt water or something else perhaps a more aggressive tank, I wouldn't have any trouble if a fish was eventually going to outgrow a tank because I know the owner of my LFS who is very good at taking things like that or I could easily get a much bigger tank say 6 months down the line. The new tank is only a 2ft tank, not sure of height or width so I wouldn't be able to go for any 'tankbusters' obviously. Any ideas are appreciated, as I've been thinking about it all day!

Cheers. ;)

maybe dwarf puffers if you want brackish

you could also try female bettas, shelldwellers, rams, convicts, tetras

dwarf puffers are 100% freshwater.
Figure 8 puffers are brackish (perhaps thats what you were thinking of?)

My next tank I'm going to try puffers, either dwarf or SAPs (both are freshwater).

good luck making a decision
