As many of you know I am buiying 75 (Possably larger) aqua. this summer.
This is the list of things I want! Could you help me by telling me (Or giving me links) about these fish?

Small Sharks
Puffers (Any Breed)
Tangs (And Breed)
Mandarin
Fish Like the Mandarin
Delicate Beautys
Larger saltwater fish

And does this look like a reliable fish dealer?
Online Fish Pet store

Oh an also,
LIONS/SCORPION FISH
SNAPPERS, SWEETLIPS & DRUMFISH
BUTTERFLIES
ANGELS

OK 75 gallons....

Sharks.. definately no. My 220 gallons isnt even large enough to give a shark enough swimming room.

Puffers... Not reef safe and most grow huge.. far too large for 75 gallons. Also very aggressive and only fish capable of taking care of themselves should be kept with them. Definatley not Lionfish as they will be harrassed and killed by the puffer.

Tangs... Almost all need 100 gallons minimum.. although perhaps you could get away with a Yellow eyebristletooth as they do seem to be happy insmaller tanks.

Mandarin.. risky.. need LOADS of liverockand mature liverock. The tank needs to be running for roughly 12 months before a mandarin is housed and i recomend a minimum of 100 gallons ow tank to be able to keep the amount of live rock needed to sustain a mandarin. If howver you can find a manadinr that feds on frozen food then your tank size is fine.

Fish Like mandarin? Basically the same advice as above.. although a scooty blenny does seem easier to ween over to frozen foods. remember if you add similar fish to a mandarin these fish compete for food and thus the amount of live rock needs to be even larger.

Delicate Beauties? Err not sure what you mean... nearly all marine fish are delicate and beautiful.

Larger saltwater fish need larger tanks sizes than you are going to get im afraid. Possiblt with eh exception of a lionfish or moray but they give out so much waste that not many other fish can be kept with them.

Snappers etc.. too large for your tank.

Butterflies are ok but need careful aclimatisation and good water quality. Not reef safe as they eat corals (perhaps a copperband is ok but they are hard to keep) Good fish for a fish only system

Angels... Very large family and not easy to anser.. they range from pygmy angels, dwarf angels and large angels. Most are 50/50 when it comes to being reef safe although people get more success with the smaller angels in a reef than larger ones. Large angels wont take to 75 gallons very well when fully grown so i recomend dwarf or pygmy angels.

From the list you seem to like the large aggressive looking fish, this is fie of course but 75 gallons is far too small for many of the fish you seem interested in. Im taking a guess here when you say 75 gallons but is this 75 US gallons or UK? if its US gallons thenthe tank is even smaller and really should not house the larger fishyou have listed. :/

:/
So a 75G is really smaller than you'd think :X

IF I were you, I would look into stepping up to a 125 gallon. It is a six footer and will easily accomadate a Mandarin after Maturing. It will also easily house any of the Dwarf angels such as the popular Coral beuaty, or Flame Angel.

All things considered, the 125 gallon will not be much more money to start up than the 75 gallon. You will need the additional live rock that it would hold over the 75, but the shallow depth still allows you too keep many corals easily with simple VHO lighting.

GL

Good idea GL. if possible than opt for just a few more gallons as it gives you the volume to keep more of the fish you would like to keep.

BTW 75US gallons is about 62.5 UK gallons. I was giving my estimate that 100UK gallons are needed for many of the fish you want.. therefore 100UK gallons = 120.9US gallons

It says you live in Minnesota, why not take a trip to A World Of Fish? They have a pretty good selection, and from what I've experienced, their staff is knowledgable and friendly. They've helped me through every step of my 210 gallon.

By the list above, id sugest reading up and getting familiar with some fish first! I dont keep saltwater fish, but through alot of reading and surfing the posts here, i know abit about SW. (not a tremendous lot, but i know alot of those fish wouldnt fit in a 75) You could still start buying gear and setting up. Id recomend just read up and surf the net to build a sounder knowledge of SW fish!

(Sorry, I know i should restrain from posting in the SW section, but thought my idea hadnt been suggested! :*) )

To me, books and the net have really been an invaluable resource! :)

Where is 'A World Of Fish'? I've never heard of it before. I mostly go to the roseville and the fridley petco.

First and foremost, I would stay away from Petco around here. I have yet to see good fish at any of them and their staff is not equiped to answer saltwater questions. Here are some names of some fish stores in the cities:

Sea Dreams - 4070 County Road 42 W, Savage, 55378
Something Fishy - 1236 E 66th St, Richfield, 55423
A World of Fish - - 1516 E 66th St, Minneapolis, 55423
Wet Pet - 14860 Granada Ave, Saint Paul, 55124
Wet World - - 3390 Coachman Rd, Saint Paul, 55121

I have been to the first 3 and my favorite is Sea Dreams - (talk to a guy named J.D.). I know ecto likes A World of Fish, so you might see who he talked to and look for them, because the person I talked to didn't help at all. One of my friends likes Something Fishy, but ecto isn't a fan, and I haven't purchased anything from there. I don't recommend Wet Pet, and I haven't been to Wet World.

Hope this helps, and I hope no one minds me posting the stores. I have no stock in any, only wanted to give other options.

Thanks! All of them are a good 45-60 Min. drive for me, but its cool. I think I'll have to plan a saturday day trip ;)

I might check out Sea Dreams this weekend. I don't know what the guy's names are that I've worked with at AWOF, but I find the majority of the staff helpful and they will direct you to other places if there's a better deal (they told me to get live rock online, as it's $7 a pound around here!!!)

And as for Petco or Petsmart, they aren't equipped to answer any questions about ANY fish, it seems.

Aqualand is over in Hopkins, it's alright, but I'd suggest AWOF or even Something Fishy before them. Once again, the staff there told me to buy inverts from other places, because Aqualand's blue-leg hermits go for $4 a piece, and Reeftopia.com sells them for much less.

I live about 30-45 minutes away from most of these places. I live in Orono, which is in the western metro, and it's a smaller town so there's no fish stores here.

Oh, I know where Orono is! We looked at houses over there for a while........

Oh, I just saw a fish store over somewhere between Excelsior and Orono, near County Club Lanes. I haven't been over there yet and I don't know the name, but as soon as I get over there I'll be sure to post about my findings.

There's an awful lot of Minnesotans on this board!

Yeah, thats a good thing! I like it because it gives me stuff to do during snowdays!
It can take along time if you have the time!
