Hi please see my journal I have a Fluval Roma 200 with U4 internal filter set up on may 15th
I added 2 filter pads from a friends established tank and also added cycle as directed had advice in beginners section that this would almost instantly cycle my tank!
Monday 16th tested water with Nutrafin Test results Ammonia 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 20 ph 7.5 added my fish from 27 litre tank
4 mollies
2 guppies
8 neons
2 platys
17th results ammonia 0 nitrite 0.8 nitrate 10 ph 7.5 did 40% water change
18th results ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate 0 ph 7.5
19th my son who had a tank had to give this up due to moving halls!
6 red eye tetras 2 Bronze Corys 6 sizzor tetras 6 cherry barbs 2 white tip tetras 1 palely and a female swordtail
I tested the water results ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate 5 did 30% water change
20th results ammonia 0 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 5 ph 7.5
21st results ammonia 0 nitrite hardly readable tinge pink nitrate 10 ph 7.5
22nd ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate 5 ph 7.5 did 25% water change
23rd ammonia 0 nitrite tinge not really readable nitrate 20 ph 7.5
24th ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate 50 ph 7.5 20% water change
25th ammonia o nitrite 0.3 nitrate 5 ph 7.5 50% water change tested after change and all 0 ph7.5
26th ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate between 5 and 10 ph 7 40% water change
27th ammonia 0 nitrite 0.3 nitrate 5 ph 7.5 50% water change retested 5 hours later ammonia 0 nitrite 0.1 nitrate 10 ph 7.5
I always add declorinator and temp match as much as possible! I have lost a couple of platys and couple of neons which is sad!
I was going to do fish less cycle but was advised if setting up bigger tank to use mature media! I do not mind doing the water changes but really do not seem to know how and where I am in the cycle! I know adding my sons fish was not great but he had no other option!
You advise would really be appreciated
Theresa
