Sorry for the dumb question, my new tank is 70cm deep, I have bought a few plants for it, but have just found out the majority of them are not true aquatic plants, so need to remove them, but I'm having a nightmare planting them. My arms are obviously not long enough to reach the substrate to plant them very well. I've bought a tool but when I push them in to the substrate (gravel) and release they just float back out.

Is there some special tools that will help?

The amazon sword was quite easy to plant as it has quite a firm stem to grip, but the vallis was ruined by the time I managed to get it to stay in.

Actually as I've been typing this, I suppose the easiest thing would be to lower the water level right down, say a 50-60% water change, then get high above it with steps!

Any advice, greatly received!

Thanks

Just leave 6 inches of water in there and then plant away.

To fill up place a sheet of polythene over an open substrate area and fill up on top of it.
