Hi guys and gals
I'm new here and new to fish keeping

I've just brought a 58l tank 60x30x33 and it came with an internal filter which is an eheim pick up 2008.
The question is, ive set it all up and turned it all on should the filter be creating bubbles or just a steady flow from it?

Many thanks in advance and I'm sure there will be plenty more stupid questions lime this from me in the future

It's giving a steady flow but that's what worries me as I'm unsure if that's right or if it should be creating bubbles

If you want air bubbles in the flow, you have to fit the small pipe to the top of the filter (can't remember its proper name) and make sure the top of said pipe is above the surface of the water.

Yeah that's the airflow valve. I put that in and it done nothing until I pushed the water outlet halfway in and then had a few bubbles but not many.

I don't know if this will help

Not sure how to describe this...You want the outflow pipe fully underwater, and the top of the airflow pipe above the surface. If no or few bubbles try turning the nozzle on top of the airflow pipe clockwise say 90°

You should move the filter higher, so the flow disturbs the surface more: that is how oxygen gets into the water. The bubbles have very little impact.

If you have not done so already, go read about fish-less cycling. This involves adding household ammonia to the water to grow bacteria which turn toxic ammonia (fish poo) into less toxic nitrite and then into almost harmless nitrate. Hopefully your filter still has at least some bacteria in it, so you don't have to start from scratch.
