New Tank - Fish Suggestions

Hi,

Ive just purchased my first aquarium - a 200L tank, filter, heater..etc which is getting delivered next weekend.. So I still have to go through the cycling phase before I can consider stocking the tank..

So far im keen on Zebra and Kuhli loaches. I was considering the Clown loaches but im worried they will get too big for the tank if i have 3-4 of them..

Can you suggest some suitable fish to go with the loaches? (Angel? Discus? guppy? Tetras? Mollies? Gourami?)

Also, as far as plants go which are hardy enough to take the loaches digging..etc

Hi there-check my profile top see the various fish i have in my tank-i have khulis and zebras and i love em. The khuli are comical and the zebras are always on the move-neither of these fish bother any of the others.

Have no experience of zebra loaches, but the khuulies will be fine with any peaceful community fish that is not large enough to eat them. Just make sure to keep a group of them as that gives them more confidence. Some options that would go well with khuulies include:

livebearers- platies, swordtails, guppies or endlers- or you could go for something slightly more unusual, like some sort of limia; I would avoid mollies as a lot of them like brackish water, and I don't think the khuulies would like that-
for livebearers, females only or a ratio of 2-3 females per male or a larger group (5+) of males only- but not more than 1 swordtail male

barbs- something like golden barbs should be good (note: no personal experience here), keep them in a school of 6-8 or more

danios- zebra danios or pearls, again a school of at least 6-8

tetras- lots to choose from here! most of the common tetras should be fine, again schools of at least 6-8

gouramis- a trio of pearl gouramis would fit in here and go fine with the khuulies; or honey gouramis; or banded gouramis

not sure about the angels or discus, and I'll leave somebody else to think about the zebra loaches
