I've just set it up today with gravel, water and have the heater in with air pump and small filter just to get the water moving.

This is a tank upgrade so will be moving existing stock across to it.
The external filter will be going on it tomorrow, it's been building up filter media and bacteria from the existing tank for the last couple of months so should give this tank a good booster start for cycling :)

Plants on their way and will go in as soon as they arrive.

Fish will be moved when I'm happy with water stats.

And what more could someone want? :D

20 gallons isn't that? or 30.... too lazy to google. fun stuffs though!

It is approx 30 US Gallons, probably about 27-28 because of gravel.

4ft x 1ft x 1ft

Mopani wood being soaked in the bath at the moment!

Mopani wood, dig thermometer, Eheim 2213 external filter, and lighting all in now

Wow it looks fantastic with lighting!

Plants now in with another bit of driftwood.
A few guppies transferred across as well - tank should be cycled but I'm taking it slowly, and will test stats regularly.

That's correct, but all these were rescued from a tiny 1 and a half foot tank:

1 X-Ray Tetra
1 Silver Dollar
2 Scissortails
1 Leopard Sailfin Plec (Gibby)

Silver dollar is fine as this is a community tank, he gets on well with his old tankmates and the gourami in my tank as they're similar looking. As I only have one it doesn't have to be in such a big tank.

I see. Well, the better conditions you get a fish, the better. I would think that you should take it back to a LFS and try to trade in....

But then again, I'm one to speak, keeping a dragon goby with too little salt compared to suggusted brackish conditions :X

But still, he's doing fine. His golden sheen has increased threefold and he's looking quite healthy. Soon I'll have to upgrade him to a 40 or so gallon

But i love the lil dude. And no one bugs him. Except when him, the false flying fox, and pleco all fight over algea pellets. Then the goby loses out because he can't actually see it, and then the fox and plecy latch onto it in team effort

But yeah. I know what you mean about conditions on getting stuff and so forth.

tank does look good but hes right about the silver dollar.

really need to be in groups and hell outgrow your tank.

i have 6 in a 180 gallon tank and they cause havoc whenever you turn the lights on or go in the tank.

seem to think the worlds gonna end or something.

I want one of those so bad... where did you get it?..

I love those small long tanks.

I know what it's like rescuing fish and having them in less then ideal conditions.. I have a couple situations like that myself..

Eventually you'll need to find the silver dollar a new home, but I can understand why you have to keep it in there now.

What kind of guppies you got in there?

I bought the tank with stand and lighting all second hand for £60 :D
Just look out in your local newspapers for bargains!

The lighting is 1 x 38w lighting tube I think so I have around 1-2 WPG lighting.

I really didn't think the silver dollar needed such a big tank as it's such a small fish and seems very happy, but if you all think it deserves bigger I will looking into rehoming him.

Not sure what guppies I have (if they have names), the females are quite plain with yellow tails and the males have pretty orange/yellow tails.
