i really cant decide what to get for my new tank
i no im guna get a male betta and a few african dwarf frogs, with some pencilfish but im not sure if i can transfer my rtbs shark to it, having a betta in there and all.

im also thinkin of.....
a whiptail cat
and upside down cats but i dont
also im unsure if i can get a zebra pleco since they only grow to like 4 inches

my tank is 34cm wide by 43cm tall and it is hex, ppl say it holds about 6 gal... so..........

Can anyone help

If it is really a 6 gallon, there wouldnt be very much you can put in. If i am not mistaken, i THINK rtbs get to 4 or 6 inches. So i dont think it would be good there.

Upside down catfish get to 4 inches, and need schools, so a definite no-no.

Sorry, cant help you out on the rest :X

P.T.

Approx 6 gallon hex tank right?
Like Phantom Theif said in a 6gal hex tank you can only keep so many fish. Which you selection I'll just write some information down of them for you.

Male Betta
Size: 7cm (2 3/4 inch)
Should not be kept with another male or they will fight to death, this is only if both placed in a small conatiner. If not one of the males would give up and swim away. Males can be kept with other fish but only is you are very sure that the betta you have is docile and gentle.

Upside-Down Catfish
Size: Male 8cm(3 1/4inch), Female 10cm (4 inch)
This catfish is only active at twilight and lives happily in a well-maintained community aquarium. You should provide some shelter for this fish. This species of fish is very susceptible to ich.

Zebra Pleco
Size: 7cm (2 3/4 inch)
Prefers quiet companions, plenty of hiding spots, subdued lighting and gentle water flow. Funnily enough this fish likes meat.

Pencilfish
Size: 3.5-7cm (1 1/2 - 2 3/4 inches)
By the day these fish tend to hind among the leaves of the aquarium. Keep pencilfish in groups of around 6 and above. Should be kept in soft acidic water.

Whiptail Catfish
Size: 13cm (5 inch)
Don't now much more...

Red-Tailed Black Shark
Size: 15cm (6 inch)
It is quite quarrelsome with it's own kind and other fishes if there are not good hiding spots. Keep only with other companions that can fend for themselves or are large enough. Provide a large tank with plaenty of rocks, plants and wood so that if you get a few of these fish they can all establish their own territory.

I don't think you should keep most of these fish in your tank...because well they grow quite large. Mabye you should look for some smaller fish for your tank.

As everyone already mentioned in a six gallon tank the only fish suitable from your list is the male betta and african dwarf frogs.

You could get 4 frogs and one betta.

Or you can get 2 frogs, 1 betta, and some small neon tetras.

Theres a very limited amount of fish which can thrive in a 6 gallon aquarium.
