i need your help to figure out what type of filter is best for the tank?
also i would like some help on the stocking of the tank..
i want some nice unusual fish but not too hard to keep :)

:hi: to the salty side :good:

You really have two options:

Live rock - imo the best
External filtration

Can I make a suggestion, lets get your tank up and running and then start to consider what to keep :good:

Usually you do it the other way round but that is before buying the tank, as you have bought the tank shall we first concentrate on getting you started?

What do you currently have in the way of hardware etc for the tank?

Tank 250L
Skimmer - what one?
Lighting?
Externals (you will not need these with live rock)
Test kits?
RO water?
salt?
refractometer?
Heater?
Aragonite sand (dont use 'live' or sand from an old tank)?
Powerheads?

i only have the actual tank at the moment.. and i thought if i come on here i will know what is the best equipment for it :D
i will be getting live rock aswell but i thought that i would get a filter of some sort... i wont get an external filter then :p But would it still be good just to get a filter inside the tank ?
plus i would get crushed coral for the substrate at the bottom.. would crushed coral affect the wtaer in any way?

thanks

Ah ha, a new tank before it starts along with a new salty, great :good: we all love watching a tank spring to life and helping along the way.

So, the filter IS the Live rock, amazing stuff as you will soon find out.

I would buy aragonite, I like the Bahama aragamix as it has shells in. And yes the sand does and can affect the water as it raises ph.

Do you already have a skimmer?

Seffie x

yeahh i thought it would raise the PH :)
no i don't have a skimmer, would it matter if i got a second hand one off ebay?
so no need for a filter :) that gives me a bit more money for MORE live rock :D
My lfs sells you water which is in his tanks ... would this be okay?
he specializes in marine fish so i hope he would be okay... and i think he does sell RO water...
is there any corals that would be able to go in it without the bright fluorescent lighting?
thanks

Many of us buy second hand skimmers, in particular the deltec mce range :good: and many buy their water to start off with :good:

There are many soft corals that can be kept under t8 type

oooh cool :D
i shall but off ebay then... i guess you can get some good bargains off there :) afterall that is where i got my tank :p (it never had any medications etc in it .. and i have given it a nice clean :)
thanks
