It was quite cute this evening. I brought in my final fish addition for my new tank. All the other fish came rushing over and swam round and round the bag looking at the new fish. It was as if they were inspecting him/her or greeting him/her. Just a little more time and my julii cory won't be on his own anymore he'll have a friend. I hope that cheers him up, he's been sulking all day. I hope they like each other! He was the only fish that didn't have a friend. Now I have pairs of all. I know most fish like to be in bigger groups, but when you've got a 10 gallon you do the best you can to at least have them paired off without causing water problems and stress from overcrowding.

As Debra already said Alex, tank size is an issue. I have a lone cory because I don't want any more, all the others have gradually died off, and I don't want to return a 5 year old cory to the shop for someone else to get... sometimes you just have to do what you can. It's not like the cories are going to drop dead from being in a pair or anything :p

Congrats on the new addition!

Thanks Synnir. I was trying to do the right thing and had read that corys could be alone. When I bought the cory the person at the lfs said they needed to be in at least pairs and preferably more, well I didn't have room for that. So, I am doing the best I can. I will probably end up buying a larger tank before long and then I will get more buddies for each of the types of fish I already have before I add any new ones. I really am trying to keep them happy.

I just have to add that Catman is overjoyed to have his new tank buddy, Robin. They are swimming around together like they've been tankmates for years. I'm so glad I finally found a buddy for him (local lfs out of them for several weeks!).
