So I've setup a new tank (20 UK Gallons from 10 UK Gallons) and they've got a Fluval 3 Plus filter.

It's set on the minimum setting, but with the new pump blasting air in through an air wall, there's quite a current!

The fish, are coping, and I'm going to get some more plants today so they can hide/rest in them, but I see all these wonderful pictures of ideal tanks in the members pictures section, and think where on earth are their filters? I don't see any kind of current, and they look nice and peaceful!

What can I do about the strong current, and make the fish be able to relax a bit more!

Hmmmm.....I have what I would call a good tank and it has no real atrong current. I do have high filtration levels for the size of the tank and my stocking levels. I know with my filters you can reduce the flow and I have even heard of a DIY thingy where you can change the water outflow so it doesn't bother the fish.

HTH

You can put a big rock or something near the filter outlet that will block the water current.

A lot of members use external cannister filters (so the filter is below the tank and all you see are the inlet(s) and outlet(s)) or sumps (another tank below the main tnak is the filter - all you see is the weir and the outlet(s).

I've managed to sort it!

It wasn't the filter that was the problem, it was the new pump. I've got an air valve outside the tank, so I can control how much is actually pumped into the tank!

It looks BEAUTIFUL with the plants I've just added :D

I'll try and get some piccies up if I can!

nope, I got it all sorted in the same day!

the fish went into a holding area while they were being 'upgraded', and went in when it was all done!

i used mostly the old tank water, so they've been great! :)
