Hi there, I recently acquired another tank from a friend of mine. It is roughly 20 US gallons.

What I was *really* hoping to do was have a play with plants and have a real good go at it, I wanted something that would like 'grass' and a few more plants - so that means light.

And I wanted a betta - which means a nice sealed lid which can keep in the humidity (for them to breath) and to stop them from jumping out right?

The problem is this tank of mine has an extremely shoddy lid, it's lightweight plastic - no real light fitting and has a huge hole in it. I really don't know what to do. :(

It's an add shaped tank, rectangular but with the two front corners sorta sliced off, so buying a new lid probably wouldn't be easy, any ideas guys? It's a puzzle but I really don't have the knowledge of whats available out there to figure it out.

Any help/advice would be really really appreciated. (Just don't tell me I can't have a betta ;) cause I know 20 gallons is enough for one little guy! I have done my reseaaarch). :*

Thanks!

iv never heard of a betta jumping out and i dont think they need humitidy to breath b/c i hav one in my tank and he was in a open tank for a while never jumped out then hes in my tank right now and theres no humidity in ther and hes fine in breathing so ur probly ok but u should ask this question in the betta seciont

Yeah.. I read that they have a tendency to jump and that uhh if they breath too much cold air they get pneumonia? :S

Uhm. building stuff. Is not really my best skill. I think I'd really struggle with building one for a rectangular tank nevermind a strangely shaped one...plus...i don't have any of the stuff needed!

:(

No more ideas for this? I'm really stuck...I have no idea how to light this tank. :(
