sorry if the pictures are to big...if you save them then and open them up with windows picture viewer they should be smaller

Kind Regards, Thuggerz
cool

I'd use a sump with it BUT I'd put a upstand in the weir box so the water level couldn't fall too far.
I'd also use aquarium silicone on the pipework joints.

i dont understand any of that but i guess i can learn...i think it might be just easy to put a piece of glass over the holes and have everything internal. Do you think it would be alot of hard work to do what you stated above?

The tank has been drilled to use a sump.

You set up a tank underneath which holds the heater & filter media & you them use a pump to return the heated, filtered water to the tank. As you tank is already drilled this is a cheaper option than buying a decent external filter and you can set up the sump filter however you like.
Typically it is a glass tank with a couple of baffles siliconed in place but I've seen stackerboxes & pond baskets used to good effect.
Maintainence of a sump is a doddle and the tank is kept clear of equipment. You can add or change media easily.

How much is the tank? & what are it's dimensions?

Hi, the guy said £20 and for that price he would put a piece of glass over the holes if i wanted to. The dimensions are 106.5cm long,56cm high,43.2cm deep

Hi diademhill, to be honest i think i might not be able to handle doing everything external...Do you think it would work if i put a powerfull internal pump into the tank and just put a piece of glass over the holes?

Kind Regards , Thuggerz :)

Price is ok & it's your call.
What equipment do you already have as believe it or not it can be as cheap to set up a sump than to buy a decent internal filter?

If it bothers you you can get the holes patched but how is the box screened - can you use it for the heater & run an airstone in it to aid circulation?

Hi, i've only got a Aquaflow 1. How much would it roughly cost for a decent internal filter and what do you mean by how is the box screened? :S

Maybe i should of posted this in the beginner section

You need to select a filter according to tank size & potential stocking .
From the dimensions you gave;-

106 x 56 x 43cm/42" x 22" x 17
Surface area 0.59 sqm/6.35 sq ft/ inches sq in
Volume 255 l./56 gal. (67.36 US gal.)
Probable volume 230 l./50 gal. (61 US gal.)

So it's a fifty gallon tank and would need two internal filters. 2x fluval 4+ would probably do and a bit of seaching found them at about £25 each but they can be nearer £40 each in some shops.
(if you only want small fish you could start the tank with one filter & add another or you could buy secondhand)
A pump/powerhead for a sump would cost about £30 but you would have to buy the plumbing pipes.
The sump itself can cost as little as £10 -£15 including media.

I cant see a comb in the photos but how & where does the water enter the box?
For example, mine has a top weir and the water passes through a comb (literally a plastic hair comb) over the edge. Some have top & bottom openings or a slot in the side too.

If the box has two openings it may be possible to turn the box into an internal filter.

I don't know the aquaflow I

looking at the photos it looks like one of the types that just overflows into it.
