2 Silver sharks (I know they get big but by then i hope a larger tank!)
a shoal of Zebra Danio (Not sure how many to get)
2 King Tiger Plecs
some Kuili Loaches ((Number to be decided)

I have a 30 gallon tank that is 1 metre long.

Numbers for my loaces and danio's would be nice

i would say no to the sharks. they get really big. unless u ARE positive of getting a larger tank like really soon, if not, still no. king tigers get to 6", 12cm. may be more practical but i'm not very sure.

I know the 2 plecs will be fine from a size wise. even in my tank. 12cm is a max size most apparently hit 10cm on average and take a fair few years. As to the silver sharks i know a few that have them and i should have about 2 years before they outgrow my tank and i have heard in some cases a smaller tank stunts there growth and you get a bit longer.

The balas will be fine for a bit no worry there... most people do suggest a min of 6 in a group but u can get away with less no problem, but the more u get the better

6 in my tank would just be cruel!!!

i hear if i get 2 that look happy in a tank at the LFS then they should be content with following each other around the tank.

If noone can see an issue with the rest of my setup im done!!! choice made.....

I will get my
loaches say 4 ( hear they grow about 10 cm... and you never see them as they bury)
Danio (about 5-6 and if i have room after add a few more)
and 2 balas first and once tank seems stable get my King tigers. (Anyone know somewhere that stocks them in basingstoke area)

i am not trying to be rude or offensive, i respect your desire to research before you buy, but....

isn't it just as cruel to stunt a shark as it is to overcrowd it? I realise that you plan to upgrade them, but a lot can happen in the two years that you consider them safe in your tank....maybe you could upgrade now or find an alternative to the shark idea? I hope i haven't offended you, i just felt compelled to point that out.
happy stocking/shopping, merry.

Regarding your stunting growth,
It can cause Stress/Ill health and often shorten their life,
and I agree it is just as bad as overcrowding,

Im not offended. i would not activly try to harm a fish. Technically many captive fish are stunted from there normal Full growth.

Others thoughts on this would be good.

Its not a set in stone list yet. I have another week or 2 of cycling...
