New Spawn, Hatched November 1, 2008

well after a long break I decided to try another spawn, and lo and behold everything went very well with a minimal amount of fin nipping. I now have fry, they hatched last night and theres about 20 that I can count so far. the male is a very cute blue violet dthm that I picked up at a petco, and the female is a blue green hm that my sister bred, father was a ft mother a very nice hm.

male seems to be a very good daddy so far.

one thing I forget, the fry are free swimming what 2 or 3 days after hatching?, I cant remember.

Congrats on your wrigglers.....at last eh The fry should start free swimming from day 2 but some might be later than others.

yea, some of them apeer to be free swimming right now. so I am removing daddy and lowering the water level and starting feeding. I had others die from waiting till the last straglers were free swimming.

Sounds like you should have a nice variety of absolutely super fish, too.
(Dying of curiosity - is that a zombie dragon egg you have there? I thought they were nothing more than a rumour.)

well pics will be comming this afternoon, its hard to take pics with a 2 year old in the room.

no its not a zombie egg, zombies are only around on halloween and then re-die the day after. many people think its a vampire egg, but we wont be sure till more peoples eggs grow up.

thanks guys. it may be a while till they grow up a bit and I can find them for pictures, I spawn and growout in the same tank, and its really hard to find 20 or so betta fry in a 20L, esp when I leave the silk plants in for them to rest on.
