Hi All,

Thought I would introduce myself as I have been floating about for the last few months gaining information from you all, ready for me to start my own salt water set-up.

I have kept freshwater fish for the last 5ish years including some very boistrous cichlids but have yearned for a marine tank for longer than I can remember... So at the begining of the month I started...

I have a Juwel Rio 180, with 2 external filters, 4 powerheads (2 on a switching thingy to give different currents). Lighting is the standard 2 tubes but with marine tubes (white and blue) and reflectors added. I have a protein skimmer but have not yet installed it...

15kg of live rock has been added and 12kg of coral sand plus about about 15kg of grot rock. Tank looks great, (pics will be added) live has come to my tank with loads of things growing all over the place, plus a couple of crabs, snails and star fish which appeared after a couple of days. I have since added 12 turbo snails (slow additions because a: I'm broke :p and b: don't want to rush it!).

Tank has completed it Nitrite/nitrate cycle and I have virtually zero readings, PH is 8.2, salinity is 31 and SP 1.023 so all looks good so far!

I am sure I will have many questions in the near future, ta for all the interesting posts that have helped me already!

Cheers,

Bryce.

Hi bryce, great to have you on board with us!
We would all love to see any photos you can come up with. Glad you took your time over this as patience is probably the most important part of reeefkeeping.
