right i have an option of a few fish to cycle.
an angel
a school of white clouds and neons
4 weather loaches
2 clown loaches
3 hill stream loaches
5 peppered corys

my tank has been cycling for over 24 hours now and i want to add one species of fish.
any suggestions on which to add first?

thanks

id say the white clouds cuz there hardy and can probly take the cycle okay. you will still probly loose some of them if you don't have mature filter media...

Do you mean urnning or cycling? Because if it's cycling, then you don't need fish.

Neons die easy. I'd say stick to white clouds.

Angels will most likely die.

I heard weather loaches are quite sensitive.

Hillstream loaches are not tropical, and require cooler waters. This will probably hinder future tanks plans unless you plan to get panda gaara's and do a fast flowing tank

I wouldn't personally rish clown loaches. But I don't know your tank stats.

And I'm no cory expert, so I can't say on those...

But I think you mean running, not cycling. Cycling needs amonia, hence the ammonia cycle!

clown loaches grow to over a foot long... so theyre out

why not do a fishless cycle or clone the tank with some media f4rom an already running tank??

out of all those fish i would go with the wite clouds as they can live in a cup of tea and still be ok...

correct me if I'm wrong....

but when you clone, don't you need to put in quite a few of the old fish from the same tank into the tank that is cloning so that the ammonia and nitrate cycle continues? Because without those, doesn't the cycle just begin to stop?

edit: and what two size tanks do you have, just to help me understand the situation here.

Why would size effect if the fish should be used to cycle a tank :S

Also as it's being cloned any of them should work really, just keep the levels in check and if they get high do some large water changes.

Back on clowns even if they grow to a foot it takes many years, so keeping small clowns in a smaller tank than adult clowns would need isn't bad aslong as they are moved into a larger tank or rehomed when they get large.

hmm from what i think he took out his he had already (goldfish) and wanted to do something else. he rearranged the tank im not sure if he kept the gravel or sand from before.

Basically it doesn't matter how the tank has changed if it still has the same cycled media, all the fish should be able to go back in........

i changed the gravel i had to sand and put in somemore wood. and ive added a few plants too.
ive bagged some of my white clouds and they're floating/climatising.

yea i got rid of the goldfish :( and the moor :( :( they where too messy and getting too big already.
the clowns are not for me to keep for every until they grow too big. they sell at my lfs for £20 at 5 inches so when they get to this size, ill be selling them.

i think ill give the white clouds a while before putting anymore fish in.

they are all my old fish but i just wanna be carefull you see. better to be safe than sorry i suppose.
