Three new species have been ID'd in S.America by doctoral student, Hernan Lopez-Fernandez.

Geophagus abalios "without a spot"

G. dicrozoster "forked belt"

G. winmilleri

The Geophagus fish can grow to about 12 inches in length, and are colored in variations of iridescent olive green, blue, and red. The species named after Winemiller, a fish scientest at Texas A&M Uni., can now be found in the ornamnetal fish trade and fish markets of Brazil.
