I brought home some rumnmy-nose tetras yesterday. I;ve noticed that two of them were always away from the shoal by themselves and breathing rapidly. I assumed they were just stressed from the move. But I just noticed why. ONe's entire tail fin is gone, and the other about a 1/4 is gone. I just noticed this since I have kept the tank lights off until today. I looked them over at the lfs and didn't notice it. Though I've been looking at them on and off all day since the lights came on and just now noticed. BUt I honestly can't say they came from the lfs last night.
The other tank mates are 6 lemon tetras and two corys. The other rummy-noses are fine so far, roaming together, even schooling with the lemon's once in a while.
So my question is, what do I do with the 2 fish? Do I just let them die? Euthanize them? I don't have a hospital tank so I don't really know what my options are. I just know I should get them out of there. Is it possible to float something like a tupperware container and put them in there and try to medicate them? What do I medicate them for?
Thanks,
Karl
